Team 7 As above, so below

As above, So below it`s a 2014 Franco-American mystery/suspense film. Directed by John Erick Dowdle, produced by Legendary Pictures and distributed by Universal Pictures. It was released on August 22, 2014 only for selected movie theaters, then august 29, 2014 was the official premiere. Has a duration of 93 minutes and is classified R. Interpreted by Perdita Weeks, Ben Feldman, Edwin Hodge, Francois Civil, Marion Lambert and Ali Marhyar.

It all starts when the protagonist Scarlett Marlowe continues with the work of her father, who was looking for the philosopher stone until the day of his death. After a lot of time of research, she with two friends travel to the city of Paris looking for clues to find the philosopher stone, but it´s here where the strange begins, when with a group of excursionists must enter to a hide part of the dark Catacumbas and strange events start happenening to them while exploring. Will they all get out of live from the Catacumbas?

The reason we consider the film ‘As Above So Below’ (2014) worth for writing a critic is the creativity work from each department to produce a horror film that actually scares people without using directly those old-fashioned ‘scream jumps’. Even though this movie is based on the poem Dante’s Infierno, the story and script are very well-written and you can tell since this group of curious guys decided to go on a mission under the streets of Paris. They wanted us, the viewers, to feel like we were the ones going through that trip by choosing shots on free hands and very harsh zoom-ins and zoom-outs, transporting us into a documentary movie we are filming without leaving our seats. The sensation from those very closed angles helped us to not see what is going on so we create our own description of villains and demons.

We think it´s a very unpredictable movie, besides it gets you into the plot. It generates a lot of emotions like fear and adrenaline, which makes it more exciting.  Also, it shows you a Paris tourist location that exists in real life, which makes the plot possible reality. The film is perfect for those looking to spend an exciting time and definitely not get bored.
